This is the butterfly unfolding its wings after it emerged from the chrysalis. For days we have been watching the chrysalis as it hung from a twig of the swan plant. It was so exciting to find the beautiful butterfly drying its wings. How amazing that such a large butterfly came out of a very small chrysalis!
The Life Cycle of a Butterfly by Michael.
The butterfly lays eggs. The egg hatches and out comes a caterpillar. The caterpillar eats the egg shell and the swan plant leaves. The caterpillar hangs upside down. The caterpillar splits its skin and becomes a chrysalis. In ten days out comes the butterfly. It dries its wings and flies away and lays eggs.

Hello Grade 2,
I was very excited when Mrs Perry told me that the butterfly had finally come out to see us. I think that it is interesting how the butterfly can pump liquid into its wings to help them unfold so that it can fly away. Thankyou Bethany for sharing this with us, it has turned into a beautiful butterfly.

Hello Grade 2,
Mrs. Perry has been telling me about all of the wonderful work that you have been doing and how hard everyone is working this term. Your classroom is looking fantastic with all of your space work hanging up. How did you make those pom poms? They look very interesting. I hope everyone is having fun at swimming.
